It Started with a Shared Passion… and Ended Under a Blanket
Bethany wasn’t looking for love.
She was looking for someone to talk to about literature, someone to share thoughts with after finishing a good book. Loneliness wasn’t her enemy, but over time, it started to weigh on her — especially in the evenings. So, with a bit of hesitation, she created a profile on justfories.com, a dating site for those who’ve lived a little and want more than fleeting connections.
Kevin was the first to write.
A short message: “Hi Bethany, do you still think Jane Austen could write thrillers today?” — it made her laugh out loud. She replied almost instantly. And that’s how it began — with laughter and Jane Austen. Then came Dostoevsky, Murakami, even books about birds, because Kevin had a soft spot for nature.
They talked every day.
Long messages turned into voice calls. Their rhythm was slow, pressure-free, natural. When Kevin suggested meeting, Bethany simply asked, “How about a walk in the woods? No noise, no cafés — just us and the trees.”
The walk was quiet and easy, as if they’d known each other for years.
Kevin talked about the books he read with his daughter. Bethany spoke about her garden and her old notebooks filled with quotes. At one point, they stopped by a small pond and just listened to the silence.
After a few such walks, Kevin invited her over for dinner.
He cooked it himself — simple pasta with tomato sauce, red wine, fresh bread from a local bakery. Bethany brought carrot cake. The dinner was calm, unpretentious — exactly what they both needed.
Afterwards, they stepped out onto the porch.
It was a warm evening, but a hint of early autumn was in the air. They sat on the porch swing, and Kevin brought out a blanket.
-"Would you like to share?" - he asked, his smile full of care.
Bethany nodded.
When their shoulders touched under the blanket, neither of them moved away. There was something simple yet deeply moving in that gesture — as if everything they’d been searching for had quietly arrived in that one moment of silence and closeness.
-"You know," - Kevin whispered, - "when I first messaged you, I never imagined I’d be here… with someone who feels this close."
Bethany smiled.
-"And I never imagined that clicking ‘reply’ would lead me all the way here."
They didn’t need many words.
The silence between them wasn’t awkward — it was full of understanding. They looked out at the garden as dusk slowly wrapped around it. Stars began to appear in the sky, one by one, like a quiet affirmation that some things in life simply fall into place. No forcing, no planning. Just step by step.
Love came to them quietly, without fireworks.
It began with a shared passion — book conversations and walks among trees. And that evening, under the blanket, on a creaky porch swing, they both understood: you don’t need grand declarations to know your heart has found its home.
